For the 5 folks who follow this blog, you've noticed that I haven't done a great job keeping up.  As of today, our trip has been chronicled.

Also, for those in the know, the belly is IN!  (According to this NY Times article).  Frankly, its about time.

A little under 3,000 miles and a little over 2 weeks and we've returned.  Whew.  Definitely exhausted, glad to be home and thankful to everyone we met along the way.  We are grateful to everyone for making Version 2.0 a wonderful trip.

Last day until St. Louis!  A perfect end to our trip as I made new friends with Kurt, Julianne, Karston, Katelyn and Marren.

Day 11: Florida 08/07/2009

Picture
Our only day in Florida.  Last night we met with some great folks at my parents' house (thank you Mom and Dad).  Then we spent the day meeting with some more people.  Unfortunately our time in Florida was far too short.

Us Galpin men only know how to make the crazy face at the camera. Ruth laments.

Last night we reconnected with some old friends in Columbia over the best Asian food buffet I've come across (pictures below).  Then drove the rest of the evening to Charleston to stay with Hannah, Clint and the little ones.

There, we reconnected with Vlad.  This was a pleasant surprise as I don't think I've seen him since my time in college oh-so-long-ago.

Again, reconnected with an old friend.  Thank you Jason for the company and conversation.  It was great to see you.

Then reconnected with an old campus:  USC.  Walked around for about 30 minutes and remembered quickly what summers are like in Columbia, SC.  They are hot.  So we got back in the car to head to a coffee shop so I could update this blog and get back in the A.C.

It still baffles me how folks survived life and were productive in any sort of way before air conditioning.
